The Annapurna Massif towers over Central Nepal, its snowcaps rising dramatically into the clouds. The Annapurna Circuit is an epic multi-day trek that takes you around these mighty mountains, cutting across two major river valleys, leading up to Thorung-La, a high mountain pass at the edge of the Tibetan Plateau.
The views are breathtaking, as you get up close to iconic peaks like Annapurna I, Annapurna II, Macchapuchare (Fish Tail Mountain), Manaslu, and Gangapurna. While the snowcaps soar above you, this trekking trail actually starts and completes in a river valley at either end of the journey. You pass through paddy fields, forests and waterfalls, and the landscape undulates as you pass through tiny hamlets hidden in the folds of landscape.
While the entire circuit takes around 15 days, one usually treks along a portion of it and one of the most frequented routes is goes from Ghorepani towards Ghandruk and Landruk. You can also head to Annapurna Base Camp which is located in the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary. October and November are the best time to do this iconic trek, but April and May are also very pleasant, as spring sunshine drives away the winter chill.
