With its towering mountains, dense forests and open grasslands, Nepal offers an unusual range of terrain – flourishing with incredible biodiversity. Thanks to intensive conservation efforts, Nepal’s wildlife population is on the rise!
From large mammals like tigers, rhinos, elephants, wild horses and powerful yaks to endangered birds of prey, amphibians and many more, Nepal is a jungle junkie’s paradise.
Chitwan is an iconic park, famous for its rhinos. Home to Tiger Tops, one of the first jungle camps in the Subcontinent, there is a very high quality of naturalists and tremendous conservation initiatives in this park, making it terrific for those who have a passion for wildlife. Chitwan is also terrific for those who are traveling with young children.
Tiger Tops is also home to one of the largest private elephant herds in the world, and a walk into the forest with the elephants is simply magical. It’s also a terrific destination for honeymooners who share a love for nature and wildlife, as this forest has a romance of its own.
Bardiya is amazing for wildlife photographers. The park is extremely picturesque and the sightings are excellent. It’s also less frequented than Chitwan, and as a result, the sense of privacy is far higher.
If you’re a birder, then a river safari by boat is a must for breathtaking views of thousands of waterfowl and unusual species. Excellent lodges, experienced naturalists and guides, and a variety of outdoor experiences make both Chitwan and Bardiya terrific parks to explore.
